Selection of photographic works 1988-1995

The montages of pictures in frames made for this purpose were created as unique pieces. Ciba- and Ilfochrome enlargements of slides were created using the Sandwich process.

[...] In the eighties Franziska R. also worked with film and wrote in 1989 in a text on her exhibition "Synthetisches" at the Foto Galerie Bern: "My involvement with film may have an influence on the frequent conception of groups of images. The statement resulting from the networking of individual pictures is still latent, it is formulated - if at all - only through the synthesis with the viewer"

[...] In 1988, after planning and producing the costumes, she staged a surreal photo series in September of the same year in the Lauterbrunnen Valley with a costumed rococo court lady and the bouncing "Freudenbergerin" in a colourful and alienated way. The present photograph with a burl wood frame creates a frozen artificiality in which the female figure in a folk costume in the mountains, dressed in the 18th century, dares absurd jumps with her umbrella raised high [...].
